Summary

An opportunity has arisen on the Emergency Surgical Floor, 16A, for candidates who are looking to step into healthcare for the first time, for those who are already in healthcare and want to work in a different speciality or want to work for an NHS Trust.

Healthcare Support Workers play a crucial role in all aspects of care delivery for our patients.

You will be joining a team of dedicated professionals who you will learn from on the job, we provide training to ensure you have the skills for the role and offer development opportunities to realise your career potential. You will be enrolled onto a healthcare support worker induction programme held each month, ensuring you feel supported as you take the first steps into your new career.

Communication with other members of the organisation and respond appropriately

Work towards completion of Band 3 competencies which include Vital Signs, Venepuncture, ECGSStoma care

Assist with admission, transfer and discharge of patients.

Make unoccupied beds and occupied beds.

Assist patients out of bed, helping with dressing and undressing as required

Wash/bathe patients in bed and in the bathroom.

Care of hands and feet of patients in bed.

Observe patients’ skin and report any red marks or blemishes to nursing staff in charge.

Assist with manual handling and transferring of patients complying with the Trust Moving and Handling policyCarry out routine ward procedures

Escort patients to the toilet.Report faulty equipment in need of repair

Assist with unpacking and checking of stores as required

Report when ward stock is low.

Clean and tidy lockers and cupboards.
