Full-Time | Monday–Friday | School Hours

Start: ASAP

No previous experience or qualifications required

Are you a

caring, patient and compassionate person looking for a rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to children and young people?

TeacherActive is working with a fantastic

specialist SEND school in Bury St Edmunds supporting children and young people aged

3–19 with a range of complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

We are looking for

SEND Support Workers to join the school.

You do not need previous school experience or specific qualifications – your attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are what matter most.

The Role

As a SEND Support Worker, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support throughout the school day. The role combines elements of a

Teaching Assistant, Support Worker and Care Assistant, so it could be particularly suited to someone coming from a care or support background.

Your responsibilities may include:

    • Providing

1:1 and small-group support to children and young people aged 3–19

    • Supporting pupils with

Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism and other complex needs

    • Helping pupils engage with classroom activities and sensory-based learning

    • Supporting pupils with their

    communication, independence and social development

    • Using visual, sensory and alternative communication strategies

    • Providing reassurance and emotional support throughout the school day

    • Assisting pupils with

    mobility and physical needs

    • Supporting with

personal care, feeding and toileting where required

    • Working alongside teachers, therapists and other support professionals

    • Helping to create a

    safe, positive and nurturing environment

    No Experience? No Problem!

No previous SEND experience, school experience or specific qualifications are required.

We would love to hear from people with backgrounds in

care, support work, childcare, nursery work, youth work, sports coaching, healthcare or similar, but we are equally happy to speak with people looking to begin a completely new career.

The most important thing is that you are:

      • Caring, patient and empathetic

      • Comfortable supporting children with complex needs

      • Reliable and committed to working Monday–Friday

      • Calm and resilient

      • Happy to provide personal care where required

      • Willing to learn and develop

      • Passionate about helping children and young people achieve their potential

      Why Apply?

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to work within a supportive specialist school where

every day is different. You will have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with pupils and play an important part in their education, independence and overall development.

It is also an excellent opportunity for anyone wanting to

gain SEND experience and begin a career within education or specialist support.

      Interested?

If you're looking for a rewarding new opportunity in

Bury St Edmunds, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today with your up-to-date CV and TeacherActive will be in touch to discuss the role.
