Summary
The Failsafe Officer will ensure that robust,high qualityfailsafe systems are in place for large and complex Antenatal and Newborn Screening (ANNB) programmes. The post holder will support the Screening Co-Ordinator in ensuring that the ANNB screening service is continuously developed and deliveredin accordance withthe Failsafe requirements outlined by the National Screening Committee to the population of pregnant birthing people and newborn babies.

To work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams to ensure eligible women are offeredtimelyantenatal and newborn screening in line with national and local guidance.
To oversee the input of information, including examinations,resultsand appointment to ensure they are accurately entered onto local and national databased via failsafe processes.
To implement and carry out failsafe checks for the ANNB Screening Programmes under the supervision of the ANNB Screen Co-Ordinator.

If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.

Deal with enquiries on behalf of the clinical teams either by telephone, personalcontactor correspondence, within agreed limits and takeappropriate actioni.e. ensureappropriate documentationis available
- Ensure that all enquiries made both by telephone and in person, are dealt with in a friendly,helpfuland efficient manner and, where necessary,an appropriate referralis made.
- To be confident and competent when dealing with patients during telephone conversations, and act accordingly and liaise with the screening midwives or members of themulti disciplinaryteam e.g. ward / community matrons.
- Transmit information relating to the delivery of care services either electronically or on paper - Alert the clinical teams of any urgent or abnormal test results asrequired
- Alert the Screening Co-ordinator of any impending breaches within the screening pathways withidentifiedremedial actionrequired
- Tobe responsible formaintainingaccurateand comprehensive records in line with the Trust’s records management policy
- Provide administration cover to colleagues across the Managed service in times of leave and sickness.
