Occupational Health Clinical Lead

Occupational Health strategy across the business.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior Occupational Health professional to lead our internal Occupational Health service,
providing expert clinical leadership, governance and guidance while working closely with HR, HSE and operational teams across
multiple sites.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Health, Safety & Environment, you'll be responsible for leading the delivery and continuous
improvement of our Occupational Health service, ensuring employees receive the highest standards of support while helping the
business meet its legal, ethical and operational responsibilities.
This role is predominantly home-based, with travel required to sites across the UK for workplace assessments, health surveillance
activities, clinical walkthroughs and stakeholder engagement.
You'll play a key role in influencing business-wide Occupational Health strategy, managing complex cases, supporting operational
decision-making, and driving improvements that enhance employee wellbeing and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Governance
* Provide expert clinical leadership and guidance across the business.
* Lead and develop the company's Occupational Health strategy and service delivery model.
* Ensure robust clinical governance, audit processes and compliance standards are maintained.
* Act as the internal subject matter expert on Occupational Health legislation, best practice and regulatory requirements.
* Provide advice and support on complex Occupational Health cases and workplace health risks.
Team Leadership
* Manage, coach and develop the in-house Occupational Health team.
* Provide leadership, supervision and support to the Occupational Health Screening and Duty Nurse.
* Conduct performance reviews, development planning and capability assessments.
* Build a culture focused on service excellence, clinical quality and continuous improvement.
Occupational Health Service Delivery
* Manage complex employee health referrals and support cases through to resolution.
* Work closely with HR, HSE and operational teams to identify risks and implement practical solutions.
* Conduct workplace assessments and health-related walkthrough surveys.
* Lead investigations relating to employee health concerns, complaints and compliance matters.
* Support effective rehabilitation, fitness-to-work and workplace adjustment processes.
Strategy & Continuous Improvement
* Drive improvements to Occupational Health processes, systems and service delivery.
* Analyse health trends and service data to identify opportunities for intervention and improvement.
* Develop and implement Occupational Health initiatives that support employee wellbeing and business objectives.
* Ensure Occupational Health services remain aligned with legal requirements and industry best practice.
Stakeholder Management
* Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across HR, HSE and Operations.
* Provide clinical oversight and support relating to external Occupational Health providers.
* Collaborate with business leaders to improve Occupational Health outcomes across all sites.
* Support the delivery of the wider Health, Safety and Wellbeing agenda.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking an experienced Occupational Health professional who combines clinical expertise with strong leadership skills and a
practical, solutions-focused approach.
Essential Qualifications
* Registered Occupational Health Specialist Nurse (Degree, Diploma or equivalent).
* First Level Registration (General Nursing).
* Management or leadership qualification, training or demonstrable experience.
Essential Experience
* Significant experience as a Senior Occupational Health Nurse Specialist.
* Extensive knowledge of Occupational Health services and clinical governance.
* Strong understanding of Occupational Health legislation and its practical application.
* Experience managing and developing Occupational Health teams.
* Experience handling complex case management and workplace health issues.
* Proven experience supporting employee wellbeing initiatives and occupational health strategies.
* Strong IT and reporting skills.
Desirable Experience
* Experience working within a SEQOHS-accredited Occupational Health service.
* Knowledge of OPAS G2 systems.
* Experience working within food manufacturing, FMCG or a multi-site environment.
