• We are looking for a qualified clinician (Nurse - RMN, RGN, RCN or RNLD, or OT) who has at least 2 years post qualifying in a clinical role with an interest in the MCA and Safeguarding.
• You will be patient focused with a passion for ensuring that our patients voices are heard and participation in all decision making is maximised.

• Support the Safeguarding & MCA team in providing support to clinical areas.
• Work with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams in supporting individuals with decision making, through helping facilitate best interests meetings and case discussions.
• Following appropriate development to act as a resource and provide advice on the use and application of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), in particular use of least restrictive practices
• Following appropriate development to act as an authorising manager for urgent DoLS
• Undertake tasks concerning the day to day organisation and operation of the team, working with the wider Adult Safeguarding team.
• Acting as the liaison with legal services over MCA/DoLS issues
• Provide and receive highly sensitive information (in accordance with the Data Protection Act and Caldecott guidance) maintaining confidentiality as appropriate
• Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information where there are barriers to understanding, for example interpretation of deprivation of liberty safeguards
After many years of collaboration and creating closer working ties, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust and St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust formed a hospital group and appointed a Group Chief Executive in August 2021 (following the appointment of a Chairman in Common in 2019) and a single executive team in January 2022.
Working as a hospital group under one executive leadership team allows for more joined up decision making for local people, a larger and more resilient clinical workforce, reduced variation in care and access to a wider range of services for our patients.
The Group Chief Nurse (GCNO) and Group Chief Medical Officer (CMO) are the Executive Directors jointly accountable to the Trust Boards for the delivery of the quality and safety agenda, including patient experience.
Please see attached job description and person specification for full details of this post. Informal discussions are encouraged.
