Summary
A Vacancy at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The Project Manager will lead the operational oversight, governance, and delivery of a high-profile, sensitive Internal Review of Clinical Harm covering a cohort of approximately 210 patients within the Medicine Division.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, the postholder will establish and maintain robust project infrastructure to ensure the review progresses strictly in accordance with its 12-month scope. This includes managing a complex patient database, driving multi-disciplinary clinical reviews, maintaining the risk and issues infrastructure, and managing sensitive communications across internal and external boundaries (including patients, relatives, Primary Care/GPs, and Trust legal advisors).
The role requires exceptional organisational skills, data oversight, clinical governance knowledge, and executive-level report writing, ensuring full transparency and accountability to Site and Group executive boards.
Project Management: Lead the 12-month Clinical Harm Review, managing delivery plans, milestones, KPIs, risks and issues. Coordinate governance meetings, MDT panels and working groups, including agendas, papers and action tracking.
Database & Information Governance: Design and manage a secure database tracking approximately 220 patients through the review process, including enquiries and coroner referrals. Ensure data accuracy, integrity and auditability in line with NHS Information Governance, Caldicott principles and GDPR.
Governance & Reporting: Implement a robust governance framework to ensure reviews are impartial, consistent and compliant with agreed methodology. Produce reports and presentations for senior clinical and executive leaders, highlighting trends, learning, harm levels and compliance.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the central operational contact across the Trust and wider healthcare system. Work with clinical, nursing and administrative teams to ensure timely case reviews. Liaise with Legal Services on high-risk cases, claims and inquests, and coordinate GP communications.
Patient & Family Communication: Manage sensitive and complex communications with patients, relatives and carers with empathy, ensuring clear information sharing and compliance with Duty of Candour.
