Summary

We are seeking an experienced manager who can support the day to day running of services across a range of teams within the Borough of Wandsworth. The post holder will be expected to provide visible leadership as part of a senior leadership team working to the Clinical Manager of the service. The post is 5 days a week, 37.5hrs, Mon-Friday.

The Deputy Clinical Manager will support the Clinical Manager in the operational leadership, performance oversight, and quality delivery of mental health and social care services within the Service Line(s). The role provides day to day management, coordination, and problem-solving support to ensure safe, effective, compassionate services aligned with Trust values.

The Deputy Clinical Manager will:

• Provide visible, supportive leadership to clinical teams

• Deputise for the Clinical Manager as required

• Support workforce, performance, governance, and quality improvement activity

• Promote collaborative working across multidisciplinary teams and partner organisations

1. Communication and Relationship Skills

Communicate highly complex, sensitive and sometimes contentious information to staff, service users, carers, senior managers and partner organisations.

Chair and participate in meetings, governance forums, case reviews and service development groups.

Use negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills to gain agreement on service improvements, workforce issues and quality initiatives.

Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery of service objectives.

2. Knowledge, Training and Experience

Registered healthcare professional with a degree-level qualification and current professional registration.

Extensive experience within mental health services, including leadership and operational management responsibilities.

Specialist knowledge of clinical governance, safeguarding, quality improvement, performance management and community mental health services.

Demonstrates ongoing professional development and application of evidence-based practice.

3. Analytical and Judgemental Skills

Analyse complex clinical, operational and workforce information to support decision making.

Interpret performance, quality and risk information and identify areas requiring improvement.

Exercise sound judgement when responding to incidents, safeguarding concerns, complaints and service pressures.

Develop solutions where information may be incomplete or conflicting.

4. Planning and Organisational Skills

Plan and coordinate a range of operational, quality improvement and workforce activities across services.

Support delivery of service objectives, performance targets and improvement
