Summary

The Department The Urology department provides care across all major sub-specialties including: General Urology cases including TURBT BPH surgery including Rezum procedure, HoLEP and TURP Female Urology surgery and outpatient cases Selected paediatric surgeries Andrology clinics Stone surgeries including PCNL Upper urinary tract diagnostic and therapeutic surgeries Diagnostic procedures including TO biopsies, urodynamic studies and flexible cystoscopies Cancer MDT and non-cancer MDT Specialist Cancer Care Radical pelvic cancer surgery is managed by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. However, TRFT provides: Integrated inpatient and outpatient facilities Follow-up care for prostate and bladder cancer patients MDT meeting for all patients with cancer Team Support The department is supported by: 2 Advanced Nurse Specialists (Band 8a) 4 Cancer Nurse Specialists 1 Cancer Nurse Specialist delivering Andrology services 5 Consultants 2 Specialty Doctors Trainees 3 Senior Clinical Fellow, 1 CT trainee and 2 FY2 trainees The Post The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in the assessment, treatment and surgical management of stone disease, including endourological procedures. The post holder should be confident in managing both elective and emergency stone patients and contribute to the delivery and development of the stone service. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate flexibility in their clinical duties and support the wider needs of the department as required. This may include participation in outpatient clinics, theatre lists, multidisciplinary team meetings, emergency service provision, and service development initiatives. The post holder should work collaboratively with colleagues across the department to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, patient-centred urological service and contribute to maintaining service resilience during periods of increased demand. Main Duties Provide comprehensive elective and emergency urology care for in-patients and out-patients Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota (1 in 6) alongside consultant colleagues Contribute to the training, supervision and management of resident medical staff Engage in audit, research, clinical governance and service development Play an active role in the management and modernisation of the department
