SEN Learning Support Assistant - Psychology Graduates
Location: Rochdale, Manchester
Salary: £13 - £15
Contract: Full time/ Part time (2-3 days)

We are currently recruiting SEN Learning Support Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a supportive college environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for Psychology graduates who are interested in educational psychology, behaviour, mental health, autism, or SEND and want to gain valuable hands-on experience within education.
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and SEN professionals to provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of additional needs.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN
- Supporting students with autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties and other additional needs
- Helping pupils engage with learning and develop confidence and independence
- Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Implementing individual learning and support plans
- Using strategies to encourage communication, social skills and participation
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
- Monitoring and reporting on pupil progress
Your Psychology degree can provide an excellent foundation for this role, particularly your understanding of:
- Child and adolescent development
- Behaviour and learning
- Cognitive and developmental psychology
- Mental health and emotional wellbeing
- Autism and neurodiversity
- Communication and social development
Previous educational experience is desirable but not essential. We are particularly interested in graduates who are enthusiastic about working with young people and are keen to develop a career within education, SEN, educational psychology, clinical psychology or related fields.
The ideal candidate will be:
- A Psychology graduate or have a related degree
- Passionate about supporting vulnerable adults and young people
- Patient, empathetic and resilient
- Confident building relationships with pupils
- Interested in SEN, behaviour and development
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
- Keen to learn and develop professionally
