Chesterfield Borough Council is looking for enthusiastic and customer-focused individuals to join our Private Sector Housing Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering housing assistance and Disabled Facilities Grants, helping vulnerable residents access the adaptations and improvements they need to maintain their independence.
About the role
As a Private Sector Housing Technical Officer, you will work directly with homeowners, private tenants, contractors and partner organisations to deliver a range of housing improvement initiatives. You will manage a varied caseload and support residents through the entire grant process, from initial assessment through to project completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
-managing Disabled Facilities Grant applications
-undertaking means-tested financial assessments
-recommending grants and loans for approval
-monitoring works on site and authorising payments
-supporting the delivery of housing assistance programmes, including essential home -repairs and energy efficiency improvements
-visiting residents in their homes to assess needs and identify suitable solutions
-working collaboratively with contractors, occupational therapists and partner -agencies to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard and within agreed timescales
