Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need to respond arises Having an incident role is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency and an active way to support communities and prevent harm to the environment. Further information on incident response can be found within your candidate pack. We are looking for a Project Manager to lead and deliver exciting, innovative projects including flood risk management studies and schemes that reduce flooding risk to communities and enhance the environment. This role sits in Project & Programme Management (PPD) and is a prominent position within our integrated project teams, taking responsibility for managing projects as the Client project manager or working alongside senior colleagues. The role holder will oversee project delivery from initial strategic planning through feasibility, detailed design, and into implementation, construction, and handover. You will support team members, flexing your involvement to suit team strength. You will build a great working environment to create high-performing teams including our suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists, and other partners. Applying your strong commercial acumen in project, contract, and risk management, you will establish effective relationships, facilitating collaborative and efficient ways of working. You will make project decisions informed by technical leads while following governance procedures, project assurance, and legislation. The ability to develop a resilient network of relationships with stakeholders such as statutory authorities, landowners, and communities to negotiate consents, approvals, and external funding is crucial. The role will require regular travel to project sites and meetings in other Agency/Partner offices. Occasional overnight stays will be necessary

The team

The PPD-Midlands hub is led by a Delivery Manager overseeing approximately 80 staff, supported by Programme Specialists, Programme Managers and Project Team Managers (PTM). Each PTM manages 8-15 Project Executives, Project Managers and Project Support Officers who manage the day-to-day delivery of projects within our flood & coastal erosion risk management programme using our framework suppliers. Other internal roles forming part of our teams include commercial, environmental, asset managers, financial, estates, and legal.
