The new academic year is well underway, and at Hays Education, we're already seeing long-term Design Technology vacancies arrive faster than they did last September.

I currently partner with 14 secondary schools across Kirklees, including schools in Huddersfield and Batley, and I'm looking to connect with talented Design Technology teachers, particularly those with experience teaching Art, Food Technology, or both.

Last year, I successfully placed 10 DT teachers into long-term roles across Kirklees. This academic year has already started strongly, with four long-term DT positions already filled, and I'm expecting demand to remain high throughout the year. As a result, I am keen to onboard passionate DT teachers who are looking for their next opportunity.

The RoleAs a Design Technology Teacher, you will:

Deliver engaging and practical DT lessons, with a focus on Art and/or Food Technology.

Inspire creativity, confidence, and independent thinking in students.

Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where pupils can thrive.

Assess and monitor student progress, adapting lessons to support different learning needs.

Contribute to the wider school community and departmental activities.

What We're Looking For✔ A recognised UK teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent)✔ Experience teaching the Design Technology curriculum within the last three years✔ Specialism in Art, Food Technology, or both✔ Strong classroom management and communication skills✔ Passion for inspiring young people through creative and practical learning✔ The ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
