About me

I'm a 17 year old boy. I'm Autistic. I use a few spoken words of every day

actions and needs. I have a Talking Device which is uploaded with everyday

tasks and things. I communicate very well using my Talking Device.

I'm epileptic and I take regular medication to keep it under control. I have a

safety plan in case of a seizure so that you can know how to help me.

I live at home in Cambridge city in Trumpington near the Park and Ride. I live

with my mum and my big sister.

I go to school every day, I enjoy school.

At home I enjoy using my iPad and phone because they keep me calm and

happy. I listen to stories and music on my phone, and iPad.

I love eating crisps and I can never have enough of them.

Pasta, sauce plus vegetables is my favourite meal in the evening.

Hours and rate of

pay

6 hours per week @ £12.71 per hour.

What you would be

doing…

It is important that you have a good understanding of Autism, enjoy being active

and have skills/confidence to support me.

Assisting me with taking medication, personal care such as showering, washing

hair, brushing teeth, moisturizing and dressing.

Preparing meals/cooking, laundry, keeping me safe from danger.

Making sure I'm in bed.

I can use the toilet independently but I need reminders to wash my hands with

soap afterwards and secure my clothes.

I sometimes wear glasses, please encourage me.

I appear big for my age because I'm tall, but I'm happy, gentle, warm and

friendly.

Support me away from home to give me a break from home, mix with peers.

Help and support me to increase my self care, independence and life skills.

Support me to access things and activities that I enjoy in the community.

Support me to access other life skills such as learning shopping skills.

I can walk well. I sometimes run off suddenly. I'm not aware of any danger so

please keep close watch over me. Hold my hand to me to keep safe when out

and about for crossing roads.

Reassure and help me to calm when I am upset or anxious.

Good communication skills, aim to build trust and understanding my needs.

Help and support me to have my medication as and when needed .

Treat me with respect, kindness and dignity.
