Summary
Masstemps is currently recruiting for an experienced
Toolroom Machinist to join a well-established and busy manufacturing company based near the
Birmingham area.
THE ROLE
• Undertake toolroom operations including milling, turning, drilling, tapping, reaming, grinding and bench fitting.
• Set and operate conventional and CNC milling and turning machinery to produce high-precision components.
• Carry out machining to engineering drawings, specifications and tight dimensional tolerances.
• Manufacture, modify, repair and maintain precision press tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and tooling.
• Complete tool repairs, refurbishment and modifications to extend tooling life and improve performance.
• Use wire EDM and spark erosion processes where required for complex or high-precision tooling.
• Inspect components using verniers, micrometres, gauges and other precision measuring equipment.
• Follow engineering drawings, CAD data, work instructions and company health & safety procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve tooling performance, production efficiency and component quality.
ABOUT YOU
• Previous experience as a Toolroom Machinist, Toolmaker, Precision Machinist or similar engineering role.
• Strong experience with manual milling and turning, with CNC machining experience highly desirable.
• Previous experience manufacturing or repairing press tools, dies, jigs and fixtures.
• Good understanding of precision machining, cutting tools, feeds, speeds and tooling materials.
• Experience working to tight tolerances and producing one-off or low-volume precision components.
• Ability to confidently read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
• Experience using precision inspection equipment including micrometers, verniers, gauges and measuring equipment.
• Wire EDM, spark erosion or surface grinding experience would be advantageous.
• Strong bench-fitting skills, including drilling, tapping, reaming, fitting and tool assembly.
• Engineering apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification preferred.
HOURS OF WORK
Mon - Thur 07:30am - 15:30pm
Fri - 07:30am - 11:30am
PAY RATE
£14 - £17.50ph dependant on experience
