Summary
Masstemps is currently recruiting for an experienced
CNC Machinist to join a well-established and busy manufacturing company based near the
West Bromwich area.
THE ROLE
. Operate, and monitor CNC machines (e.g. milling, turning, or machining centres) to produce cast components to specification
. Load and unload castings safely, using lifting equipment where required
. Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and CNC programs
. Carry out tool changes, offsets, and basic program edits to ensure dimensional accuracy
. Perform in-process and final inspections using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, gauges)
. dentify and correct machining issues to maintain quality and minimise scrap
. Ensure machines are operated safely and in line with company and foundry health & safety procedures
. Maintain a clean and organised work area in accordance with 5S standards
. Complete production documentation, quality checks, and traceability records
. Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and quality
ABOUT YOU
• Previous experience operating CNC machines within a manufacturing environment
• Understanding of machining cast iron or other ferrous/non-ferrous materials
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
• Experience using precision measuring equipment
• Knowledge of CNC controls (e.g. Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, Heidenhain - advantageous)
• Understanding of cutting tools, speeds, and feeds
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Awareness of health & safety practices in a heavy industrial environment
• Willingness to work shifts where required
HOURS OF WORK
07:30am - 16:30pm Monday to Thursday
07:30am - 13:30pm Friday
RATE OF PAY
£12.71 - £15.00ph depending on experience.
