HGV TECHNICIAN

Location: Leicestershire

Salary: £21.46-£23.00 per hour, depending on experience

Hours: 47.5 hours per week

Working Week: Monday-Friday | Early or Late Shift

Overtime: Available

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Looking for a HGV Technician role with variety?

We're looking for an experienced HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic to join a busy workshop environment working across a diverse range of HGVs, trailers and specialist equipment.

This is a hands-on role suited to a skilled, practical Technician who enjoys fault finding, repairs and working across different vehicle types rather than doing the same job every day.

What You'll Be Working On

You'll work across:

·HGV chassis cabs: DAF, Volvo and Renault

·Hook lift vehicles

·Tankers

·Curtainsider trailers

·Hook lift / RORO equipment

The Role

·Carry out 6-weekly vehicle and trailer inspections and servicing

·Complete preventative maintenance and MOT preparation

·Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using Jaltest diagnostics

·Repair and replace engines, transmissions, brakes, AdBlue, ABS and electrical components

·Diagnose and attend breakdowns by telephone, roadside and on customer sites

·Work with hydraulic systems and hook lift equipment

·Maintain accurate inspection sheets, job cards and parts records

·Communicate effectively regarding repairs, parts and timescales

·Follow company health, safety and workshop procedures

About You

We're looking for an experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Plant Mechanic with:

·4+ years' practical HGV and/or plant mechanical experience

·Experience working across multi-brand commercial vehicles

·IRTEC certification

·Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills

·A reliable, hands-on approach and good attention to detail

·Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·Willingness to learn and develop new skills

Desirable:

6+ years' experience, welding/fabrication, hydraulics, hook lift/RORO equipment and knowledge of LOLER requirements.

Hours & Flexibility

47.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, including unpaid lunch breaks.

Early or late shifts are available and working hours are negotiable, making this an opportunity worth discussing if you're looking for some flexibility around your start and finish times.
