T is a friendly, sociable 18 year old man who lives with his mum, stepdad and our much-loved dog. He attends Easton College from Wednesday to Friday.T enjoys spending time with other people, having a laugh and sharing common interests. He is particularly passionate about gaming and football and enjoys both playing and watching football. He also enjoys baking, bowling, electric darts, pool, going to the cinema, wildlife and getting out for walks.T is looking for a Personal Assistant who can help him develop his independence, access his local community, and take part in the activities he enjoys. T would like someone who can engage with his hobbies and support him to socialise, build confidence, and make the most of his interests.
Duties
- Supporting T to access the local community and attend social activities.
- Encouraging participation in hobbies and interests such as gaming, football, bowling, pool, cinema visits, wildlife activities and walking.
- Supporting T to use public transport and develop travel confidence.
- Assisting with meal planning, shopping and preparing simple meals and snacks.
- Encouraging and supporting T to maintain a tidy bedroom and organised living space.
- Supporting T with basic administration and everyday life skills.
- Helping T to build confidence, make choices and develop greater independence.
- Providing companionship, encouragement and emotional support in a way that respects T's individuality and communication style.
Essential
- Due to the nature of the role and the service user's learning difficulties, this position is restricted to male applicants under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
- Understanding and previous of autism, ADHD and neurodivergence, and how this can affect a person
- Friendly, patient and reliable.
- Good communication skills.
- Able to promote independence and confidence.
- Shares some of T's interests.
- Animal friendly.
- Experience supporting autistic or neurodivergent young people.
- Previous PA, support worker or care experience.
- Knowledge of person-centred support.
- Interest in gaming, football or outdoor activities.

Summary Terms and Conditions
Expenses
You will be reimbursed for any reasonable and pre-approved expenses incurred in the course of carrying out your duties. Where a personal vehicle is used to transport a service user and mileage reimbursement is to be claimed, this arrangement must be authorised in advance, documented within the service user's care plan, and processed in accordance with the organisation's payroll procedures.
Holiday Entitlement
Employees and workers in the UK are entitled to a minimum of 5.6 weeks' paid annual leave per year on an FTE basis. Part time roles will be calculated pro rata. Self-employed individuals are not entitled to statutory paid holiday leave, and any time off is unpaid unless they make their own financial arrangements.
Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS)
This post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which will be arranged and paid for by the employer. Where children under the age of 18 live in the household, the successful applicant will need an Enhanced DBS check that includes both the Adults' and Children's Barred Lists. In these circumstances, employment cannot commence within the family home until the DBS clearance has been received.

Probationary Period
This post is subject to a three month probation period. The three-month probationary period gives both you and your employer the opportunity to ensure the role is a good fit, identify any training or support needs, and settle into the working relationship.
Mandatory Training
Where the duties of this role include food preparation, moving and handling, the use of hazardous substances (including household cleaning products), or the handling of medication, you will be required to complete any relevant mandatory training and competency assessments.
