Stables Maintenance Assistant to ensure the upkeep of our stable buildings and surrounding areas, helping to provide a safe, well-maintained environment for our horses and staff.

The Role

As a

Stables Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of general maintenance tasks across the stables and associated facilities. Working closely with the Stables Manager, you will help ensure that buildings, equipment and maintenance stores are kept in excellent condition while maintaining high standards of health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • To carry out basic repairs within the Stables buildings and surrounding facilities.
  • To carry out basic repairs within the Stables buildings and surrounding facilities.
  • To undertake basic carpentry, plumbing and painting as required.
  • To use and maintain basic hand-held tools and equipment.
  • To monitor and maintain stocks of basic maintenance equipment and materials.
  • To carry out general gardening duties as required.
  • To maintain lawns, borders and surrounding outdoor areas.
  • To assist with planting, pruning, weeding and watering.
  • To prepare and maintain soil, including digging, mulching and fertilising.
  • To use and maintain basic gardening tools and equipment.
  • To report equipment faults and major repair requirements to the Stables Manager.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone with:

  • Previous experience in a general maintenance or property maintenance role.
  • Basic skills in carpentry, plumbing and decorating.
  • Confidence using a variety of hand-held tools.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Good practical skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • The ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual tasks.
  • An interest in horses or an equestrian environment is desirable.
