Summary

Position: CCTV Operator

Location: Whitehall

Pay Rate: £14.25

Hours: Average 60 hours per week

Shifts: Monday to Friday - Days Only (07:00 - 19:00)

A valid CCTV and SG/DS SIA licence is required.

You must have lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years, due to SC Clearance requirements.

Your Time at Work

A CCTV Operator is responsible for monitoring surveillance camera footage to ensure safety and security, identifying and responding to potential threats or incidents. This role requires acute observational skills and technical proficiency to detect and report suspicious activity. The CCTV Operator is expected to cultivate and champion operational excellence and best practices. The CCTV Controller is pivotal in consistently upholding rigorous standards of security, safety, and customer care.

Key Responsibilities:

- Continuously observe live CCTV camera feeds to identify potential security breaches, criminal activity, or safety hazards. Monitoring CCTV cameras within the Security Control Room and arranging for the collation and viewing of CCTV images in response to incident management, strictly in accordance with the CCTV Code of Practice, are key functions.

- Respond to alarms, alerts, and other notifications from the CCTV system, assess the situation, and take appropriate action, such as contacting law enforcement or other emergency services.

- Document incidents, suspicious activities, and any unusual occurrences in detail, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to relevant authorities or supervisors. Equipment failures and faults must be inspected and reported in line with established procedures. Any discrepancies, issues, or faults are to be reported to the Duty Security Manager and Security Manager.

- Perform routine inspections of CCTV equipment to ensure proper functionality and report any malfunctions or issues, thereby maintaining the operational readiness of the Security Control Room CCTV equipment.

- Effectively communicate with other security personnel, law enforcement, and emergency services to coordinate responses and share information.

- Maintain accurate records of all incidents, including video footage, reports, and other relevant documentation. Accurate daily occurrence log records for CCTV patrols and faults must be maintained.

- Strict adherence to site duties, policies, and procedures is required. All compliance checks must be meticulously completed. Assistance to the Duty Security Manager and Security Manager shall be provided as necessitated by site requirements. Effective support during incidents is expected. Maintaining a high level of morale and discipline within the team is a crucial aspect of this role.

Skills and Qualifications:

- The ability to focus on multiple screens, identify subtle changes in behavior or unusual activities, and quickly assess situations.

- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills are essential for reporting incidents, providing information to authorities, and interacting with colleagues. The ability to work autonomously as a self-motivated individual, while also functioning as a collaborative team player contributing to service delivery improvements, is required.

- Candidates must possess strong computer skills, including the proficient operation of CCTV systems, navigation of diverse software interfaces, and effective object tracking. A valid SIA CCTV Licence (and either Door Supervisor or Security Guard licence) is a prerequisite. Mandatory requirements include demonstrated experience in CCTV security operations and exceptional proficiency in PC skills, encompassing Microsoft and Chrome applications, along with a comprehensive understanding of access control and CCTV systems.

- The ability to assess situations, identify potential threats, and develop appropriate solutions.

- The ability to make quick and sound decisions in high-pressure situations.

- The ability to notice minute details and inconsistencies that may indicate a potential security breach.

- A thorough understanding of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to surveillance and privacy. To ensure all work is undertaken in compliance with the operating procedures, current legislation(GDPR) and current code of practice.

- The ability to maintain sustained focus while seated for extended periods when monitoring screens.
