Summary

Are you an experienced fire safety professional ready to make a meaningful impact across a major NHS hospital group? As Group Fire Compliance Manager, you will lead on fire compliance, provide expert advice to senior leaders, and help ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors across multiple healthcare sites.

We're looking for a knowledgeable and influential leader with significant fire safety experience, strong technical expertise and a passion for continuous improvement. You'll have the opportunity to shape strategy, support major projects, drive compliance and champion best practice across a complex and rewarding environment.

Join us and be part of a team dedicated to making healthcare safer every day, where your expertise will directly contribute to protecting people and supporting excellent patient care.

As the Group Fire Compliance Manager, you will provide expert leadership and specialist advice on all aspects of fire safety across a large NHS hospital group. You will lead on fire safety compliance, ensuring that all sites meet statutory requirements, healthcare fire safety standards and best practice guidance.

Working closely with senior leaders, estates teams and clinical services, you will oversee fire risk assessments, audits, investigations and action plans, while supporting the development of fire safety policies, training programmes and compliance strategies. You will also provide specialist input into capital projects, emergency planning and fire safety performance reporting, helping to drive continuous improvement and maintain the highest standards of safety for patients, staff and visitors.

The role offers the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making, lead complex fire safety initiatives and play a key part in creating safe and compliant healthcare environments across multiple sites.

St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).

After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.

At gesh we are committed to supporting flexible working arrangements. Applicants are encouraged to discuss any flexibility they may need during the recruitment process.

The Group Fire Compliance Manager will lead and support fire safety compliance across the hospital group, ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation, NHS guidance and best practice. The role provides expert advice on fire risk management, audits, training, emergency planning, incident investigations and major capital projects, helping to create safe environments for patients, staff and visitors.

Working closely with senior leaders, Estates and Facilities teams, clinical services and external partners, you will monitor performance, support continuous improvement and provide specialist guidance on all aspects of fire safety and compliance.

Key relationships include:

• Group Head of Fire Safety

• Group Director for Health, Safety and Non-Clinical Risk

• Estates and Facilities teams

• Fire Safety Managers and Advisors

• Capital Projects teams

• Clinical and operational leaders

• Fire and Rescue Services

• Auditors, consultants and regulatory bodies
