Peripatetic Occupational Health Advisor
Location: South Oxford / Swindon
Salary: £40,000–£48,000 per annum, depending on experience
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday–Friday, typically 9am–5pm, with some flexibility
Working pattern: Hybrid – client sites and home working
About the role
We are looking for a Qualified Occupational Health Advisor to join a team in a varied and rewarding Peripatetic Occupational Health role covering the South Oxford and Swindon area.
This is a predominantly client-facing role, with 2 days per week required on a key client site in Swindon. The remainder of your working week will be across other client sites within an agreed geographical area and working from home when undertaking management referrals and new starter clearances.
You will provide the full Occupational Health remit to commercial-sector clients, working independently while having support from the wider clinical team.
Your role will include:
• Conducting management referrals, with a maximum of 5 cases per day.
• Completing new starter health clearances.
• Delivering health surveillance at client sites.
• Providing workplace health and wellbeing services.
• Delivering vaccinations, including flu and Hepatitis B.
• Undertaking phlebotomy and blood sampling.
• Completing health surveillance including spirometry, audiometry, skin assessments, HAVs and forklift truck medicals.
• Providing clear, professional reports and advice to management.
• Working collaboratively with client HR, Health & Safety and other stakeholders.
• Completing management referrals and new starter clearances from home when not working at client sites.
• Maintaining accurate clinical records and working within professional and regulatory standards.
• Supporting service improvement and delivering a high-quality, commercially focused Occupational Health service.
Essential requirements
• Qualified Occupational Health Advisor (OHA).
• Registered General Nurse.
• Recognised Occupational Health qualification at certificate, diploma or degree level.
• Minimum 2 years' post-qualification commercial-sector experience.
• Experience working across diverse workplace environments.
• Competent with Microsoft Office and basic IT systems.
• Full, clean driving licence.
• Access to a reliable vehicle.
• Flexible approach with a positive “can-do” attitude.
