Summary

Luma Education Recruitment is delighted to be working with an exceptional specialist education setting in Totnes, Devon, seeking a passionate and experienced SEND Functional Skills Teacher to join their dedicated team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working with young people with SEND, autism, learning difficulties and additional needs, and who can create engaging, accessible lessons that encourage learners to progress.

You will teach Functional Skills Maths and English, helping students develop key academic, communication, independence and employability skills in a highly supportive specialist environment.

The Role

Teach Functional Skills Maths and English from Entry Level 1 to Level 2

Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learner needs

Adapt teaching strategies for students with SEND, autism and learning difficulties

Track progress and provide meaningful feedback

Establish a positive, structured and engaging classroom environment

Work closely with teaching assistants and the wider education team

Support students with their personal development and preparation for adulthood

What We're Looking For

Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths and/or English

Previous experience working with SEND, autism, SEMH or learning difficulties

QTS, PGCE, Cert Ed, AET, DET or another relevant teaching qualification is desirable

Strong behaviour management and classroom skills

A flexible and creative approach to teaching

Excellent communication and organisation

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
