We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team supporting the British Forces South Atlantic Islands (BFSAI) estate in the Falkland Islands. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will take full commercial and financial ownership of a portfolio of infrastructure projects, leading commercial delivery from concept through to completion.
Mitie delivers Hard FM services across the Falklands, with a team of approximately 150 colleagues maintaining critical assets ranging from accommodation and infrastructure to operational airfield facilities. This role sits within the commercial function, supporting an annual programme of infrastructure improvement works in a live operational military environment.

What You'll Be DoingAs Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:
Commercial Delivery
-Take ownership of commercial performance across a portfolio of infrastructure projects.
-Administer and interpret contracts, including DEFCON, NEC, and bespoke FM agreements.
-Lead change control activities, including the preparation, pricing, negotiation, and agreement of variations.
-Manage applications for payment, ensuring accurate measurement and timely submission.
-Support cost planning and pricing activities for new works and service changes.
Financial Control and Governance
-Produce CVRs, forecasts, cost reports, and margin analysis.
-Identify commercial risks, variances, and opportunities, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
-Work closely with Finance teams on budgets, cash flow, work in progress (WIP), accruals, and audit readiness activities.
-Maintain robust cost control processes across the contract.
Performance and Reporting
-Monitor KPIs, SLAs, and overall contract performance.
-Provide clear commercial reporting to internal and client stakeholders.
-Support client reviews, audits, and governance forums.
Leadership and Stakeholder Management
-Lead and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors.
-Deputise for the Commercial Manager when required.
-Act as a trusted advisor to operational teams, providing commercial insight and challenge.
-Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
-Represent the commercial function in meetings, negotiations, and governance forums.
What We're Looking ForEssential
-Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying.
-5+ years' experience in a similar commercial role.
-Strong knowledge of construction and service contract forms, with NEC experience highly desirable.
-Experience using measurement rules such as SMM7, NRM, and CESMM.
-Ability to manage tendering processes and demonstrate value for money.
-Strong commercial risk identification and mitigation capability.
-Experience producing accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and cost analysis.
-Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
-Strong organisational, communication, and analytical skills.
-CSCS Card and full UK driving licence (or equivalent).
-Ability to obtain medical clearance, BPSS clearance, and a Falkland Islands work permit.
Desirable
-Experience with Schedule of Rates contracts, including PSA and NSR.
-Exposure to a variety of asset types, including commercial, domestic, industrial, leisure, and catering facilities.
-Experience using CAFM systems, particularly Maximo.
-Knowledge of MOD standards and military environments.
-Understanding of public sector procurement processes.
-Experience working in overseas or remote operational environments.
-Professional membership with RICS or CIOB, or working towards chartered status.
