We are recruiting an experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Nottingham City Centre for an immediate start.

This is a hands-on role supporting children with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, regulate their emotions and develop greater confidence and independence within school. You will provide a combination of 1:1, small-group and classroom support, adapting your approach according to the individual needs of each pupil.

The school is looking for someone with existing SEND experience who can quickly establish positive relationships and provide the calm, consistent support pupils need to thrive.

About the Role

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will:

* Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND

* Support children with needs including Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH and Speech & Language difficulties

* Help pupils access classroom learning through differentiated activities and personalised strategies

* Follow targets and strategies outlined within EHCPs and individual support plans

* Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation

* Deliver targeted academic and SEND interventions

* Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques where appropriate

* Support pupils through transitions and changes to routine

* Encourage confidence, independence and positive engagement with learning

* Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCo and wider support team to monitor pupil progress

Ideal Candidate Profile

* Previous experience supporting children with SEND is essential

* Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar

* Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, SEMH and/or Speech & Language needs

* Confident providing dedicated 1:1 support

* Experience working with EHCPs is desirable

* Knowledge of visual supports, PECS or Makaton would be advantageous

* Strong behaviour management and communication skills

* Calm, patient and consistent when supporting pupils who may become dysregulated

* Proactive, resilient and comfortable using initiative

* Available to begin a long-term position immediately
