We are recruiting a confident and experienced Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in the Sherwood area of Nottingham, with a particular focus on supporting pupils with SEND.

This is a hands-on role working across the primary age range, supporting children both within the classroom and through targeted 1:1 and small-group work. Pupils may have needs including Autism (ASD), ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties and SEMH, so previous experience supporting children with additional needs is important.

The school is looking for someone proactive, patient and able to adapt quickly to different pupils, providing the consistency and encouragement they need to engage successfully with learning.

About the Role

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will:

- Provide 1:1 and small-group SEND support alongside general classroom assistance

- Support pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs

- Adapt activities and resources to make learning accessible to individual pupils

- Follow strategies outlined within EHCPs and individual support plans

- Deliver targeted interventions in areas such as literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills

- Support emotional regulation and use positive behaviour strategies where required

- Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement with learning

- Work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to monitor pupil progress

- Provide a calm and consistent approach during transitions and less structured parts of the school day

Ideal Candidate Profile

- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant

- Experience supporting children with SEND is essential

- Knowledge of needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH and Speech & Language difficulties

- Confident providing both classroom and 1:1 support

- Experience working with pupils with EHCPs is desirable

- Strong behaviour management and communication skills

- Patient, resilient and able to build trusting relationships

- Proactive and willing to get involved across all aspects of the school day

- Reliable and committed to a long-term position
