Summary

Job Context It is a clear expectation within County Care that individual Deputy Managers will develop their knowledge and skills to meet the appropriate MCI standards, including developing the appropriate personal competencies. This role involves spoken communications, so a confident use of English language is required. An Enhanced DBS clearance is required for this post. Job Purpose Manage a Care team working a specific period of day or evening and as required, elements of other Care Teams working the same period or an overlapping period, ensuring outcomes meet service level agreements. Assist the Operations Manager with the overall management and development of a specific Care Unit. Operational Management Assist the Operations Manager in agreeing and organising services for new or transferring service users. Ensure staff are delivering services in accordance with Directorate, Business Unit policy and procedures, agreed quality standards, individual care plans, service provision plans and within SLA framework. Personally provide direct care for service users in emergency situations and in other situations where needed. Set and monitor targets and standards for staff via performance appraisal. Resource Management Identify staff development and training needs via performance appraisal. Provide regular professional supervision. Be involved in the Recruitment, Selection and Induction of Staff. Assist Operations Manager in ensuring development and training needs are met. Provide on the job supervision for members of a Care Team working for a specific period of the day or evening. Provide direction and advice on the care needs of individual service users. Plan and implement rotas for staff cover including relief cover. Authorise time sheets and other payments. Assist the Operations Manager in the effective management of the specified budget including taking responsibility for any specifically delegated items. Undertake specific financial administration tasks e.g. petty cash, assistance with service users finances.
