Summary

Although this position is a 6 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 6 months.

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust are actively recruiting a Band 3 Therapy Assistant. We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and innovative individual to join our therapy department at King George Hospital working with our frailty team to provide an exercise programme for our patients on the elderly wards.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you will have the opportunity to offer a programme of exercises to our patients to prevent deconditioning and keep patients mobile. As a Band 3 Therapy Assistant you will have the opportunity to build a strong set of skills such as assessing and upgrading exercise programmes under the guidance of the qualified therapist.

You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, some experience as a therapy assistant and a care certificate or equivalent

• To provide skilled routine, and some non-routine, clinical and non-clinical support to the rehabilitation team, this includes Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists

The state registered therapist will at all times remain responsible for:

• Primary assessment of patient

• Referral for treatment

• Clinical discharge of patient

• Setting the primary clinical treatment plan and monitoring the progression of the patient

• Overseeing the clinical quality and ensuring appropriateness of the treatment practised on the patient

We run a Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
