Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

Contract:Term Time only + 1 TE day, Fixed Term Contract until 31st August 2027

Salary:Grade TA1 (Pts 3-4) £25,185 - £25,583 per annum pro rata

Hours:32.17 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Start date:As soon as possible

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (also known as Teaching Assistant - Level 1) to join our team, providing key SEN support within the classroom on a 1:1 basis across Key Stages 3 & 4. You will also be working closely with other teaching staff to ensure provision is effective and that learning needs are met. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them to achieve their full potential.

Job overview

Learning Support Assistants will have aspirational goals for all students and support the school in delivering Quality First teaching. In order to deliver an appropriate, differentiated curriculum that supports individual student in their learning teaching assistants will work with teachers to develop strategies that successfully meet individual students’ needs so that the students achieve their best, become confident individuals and make a successful transition to adulthood. Learning Support Assistants will maintain professional caring relationships with students that are based on an understanding of individual needs and they will not disclose confidential information concerning students or their families. Learning Support Assistants will be aware of and support the implementation of all school policies especially any incidents concerning Safeguarding issues.

Key responsibilities:

• Support teaching staff in delivering lessons and learning activities in the classroom;

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning, particularly in core subjects;

• Assist with classroom organisation and resources;

• Provide support for students with additional needs, including SEND;

• Promote positive behaviour and engagement across the school.

• The ideal candidate will have:

• A caring, patient and positive attitude;

• Strong communication and teamwork skills;

• An understanding of the challenges faced by secondary-aged students;

• A willingness to learn and follow instructions;

• Experience working in a school environment or with young people (desirable but not essential).
