Summary

Educato Recruitment are working with a growing Alternative Provision in Rochdale who are looking for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and wants to help pupils who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education.

No formal teaching qualification is required for this role.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide day-to-day support to pupils, helping them to engage with their learning and develop their confidence, independence and social skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Supporting pupils during lessons and learning activities

- Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required

- Helping pupils to remain focused and engaged

- Supporting pupils with their academic and personal development

- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people

- Supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs

- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation

- Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence

- Supporting classroom routines and maintaining clear boundaries

- Assisting with interventions and individual learning activities

- Working closely with teachers and other support staff

- Providing feedback on pupil progress, engagement and behaviour

- Supporting safeguarding and maintaining a safe, positive environment

The provision supports young people who may have struggled to engage within mainstream education and benefit from a smaller, more personalised and supportive environment.

Pupils may have:

- SEND and additional learning needs

- SEMH needs

- Autism and ADHD

- Anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties

- Behavioural challenges

- Attachment difficulties

- Difficulties with attendance and engagement

- Previous experiences of exclusion or disengagement from education

We are looking for someone who is patient, reliable, approachable and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting young people.

Previous experience in education is beneficial but not essential.

We would particularly welcome applications from people with experience in:

- Schools or colleges

- Alternative Provision or PRUs

- SEND settings

- Youth work

- Mentoring

- Sports coaching

- Care or support work

- Children's clubs or activities

- Community work

- Tutoring

You will need to be:

- Calm and patient

- Confident working with young people

- Able to build positive relationships

- Consistent in your approach to behaviour

- Reliable and professional

- Resilient when faced with challenging situations

- A strong communicator

- Passionate about helping young people succeed

This role is initially offered on a long-term agency basis, with the opportunity to move onto a permanent contract through our 12-week temp-to-perm agreement.
