A welcoming and supportive specialist SEND provision in Middleton is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. The school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for pupils with a range of additional needs, with a strong focus on supporting their academic, social and emotional development.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils throughout the school day, helping to create a positive learning environment and building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
Key responsibilities:
• Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
• Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and social development
• Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils manage their emotions
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Supporting classroom activities and adapting tasks to meet individual needs
• Working closely with teachers and the wider support team
• Promoting a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment

The successful applicant will:
• Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within an education or SEND setting
• Have a calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Be confident building positive relationships with pupils
• Be proactive, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
• Have full-time availability
• Hold a valid Child Workforce DBS or be willing to obtain one
• SEND experience or relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential
