At Oakfield Short Stay Primary School, you will gain hands-on experience in a Pupil Referral Unit and have opportunities to develop professionally through supported apprenticeship pathways, including a Level 5 qualification in Learning and Skills.Are you passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and SEN needs? This is an exciting opportunity to join our supportive and dynamic team at Oakfield as a Learning Support Assistant/Escort, supporting pupils both in school and while travelling safely on the school minibuses.Key Responsibilities:This is a varied and rewarding role where you will:Support safe travel: Escort pupils with SEMH and SEN needs to and from school on minibuses, ensuring their safety and wellbeingWork within the classroom: Support teaching staff to deliver engaging and inclusive learningPromote inclusion: Help pupils access learning through tailored support and interventionsProvide 1:1 support: Work closely with individual pupils to support progress and wellbeingSupport behaviour and wellbeing: Help pupils regulate emotions using positive strategies and guidanceContribute to a therapeutic environment: Support holistic development across the curriculumAssist with resources and activities: Prepare materials and support structured play and social learningDevelopment OpportunitiesWe are committed to developing our staff and particularly welcome applications from those at the beginning of their careers. Experience of Working with the general public within a service provision environment. Is enthusiastic, resilient and motivated to work with young peopleHas GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and MathsIs interested in working with pupils with SEMH and additional needs. Experience of Working with vulnerable groups.Can work as part of a team and build positive relationshipsKnowledge of The provision of education for excluded and vulnerable pupils, SEND legislation and county SEND policy and procedures. Is willing to learn and develop professionallyPrevious experience of working with young people or in a school setting is desirable but not essential for the right candidate.In addition, we also expect you to share our commitment to our values and to delivering accessible and inclusive services which meet the needs of all of our residents.
