Location: Shepshed (LE12)

Pay Scale: £100 - £115 per day

Full Time: 8.30am - 3.50pm

Contract: Full Time | Temp to Perm

Start Date: September 7th 2026

The School

Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a specialist SEMH school within a well-established Multi-Academy Trust to appoint dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants on a Temp to Perm basis. The school is an all-through specialist setting supporting pupils aged 4-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The school provides a tailored curriculum alongside therapeutic and personal development opportunities, helping pupils build confidence, resilience, independence, and the skills needed for life beyond school.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally throughout the school day. Working 1:1 and with small groups, you will build positive and trusting relationships with pupils who may face significant barriers to learning. You will work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to provide consistent support, encourage positive behaviour, and help pupils become confident and independent learners.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs

- Support pupils to access a personalised curriculum linked to their individual needs and EHCP outcomes

- Build positive relationships that promote emotional regulation, resilience, confidence, and engagement

- Support positive behaviour and help pupils develop their social, emotional, and communication skills

- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and the wider school team to achieve positive outcomes for pupils

Who We're Looking For

- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural, or additional learning needs

- Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or similar is desirable

- A calm, patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with additional needs

- Strong relationship-building and behaviour management skills

- A genuine passion for specialist education and helping young people develop confidence and independence
