Job Title: MIG Structural Welder

Job Purpose:
To carry out MIG welding and fabrication of structural steel components in accordance with engineering drawings, welding procedures, quality standards, and health & safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- MIG/MAG weld structural steel components using approved welding procedures.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications.
- Set up welding machines, select appropriate wire, gas, voltage, and amperage.
- Weld in various positions and on different steel thicknesses.
- Carry out tack welding, fillet welds, butt welds, and other structural welds as required.
- Prepare, clean, grind, and inspect materials before and after welding.
- Check dimensions, alignment, weld quality, and finished components against drawings.
- Identify and rectify welding defects where required.
- Operate workshop equipment safely, including grinders, saws, drills, and fabrication tools.
- Maintain a clean and safe working area.
- Follow company, site, and statutory health & safety procedures.
- Proven experience in MIG/MAG structural welding.
- Ability to read and work from technical/engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of welding parameters and consumables.
- Experience working with carbon/structural steel.
- Ability to produce consistent, high-quality welds.
- Good understanding of workshop and welding safety.
- Relevant welding qualifications/certification where required.
- Structural steel fabrication experience.
- Experience working to EN/ISO welding standards.
- Relevant coded welding qualifications.
- CSCS/site experience if working on construction sites.
- Ability to use overhead cranes and fabrication equipment.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Quality-conscious and safety-focused.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically capable of working in a fabrication environment.
