Summary

Job Title: HSEQ Manager

We’re looking for an experienced HSEQ Manager to take ownership of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality across a UK-based manufacturing operation.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can combine strong technical HSEQ expertise with the ability to influence people, improve culture and drive meaningful operational change.

The Role

Reporting to the Group Head of Quality & Compliance, you’ll lead the development and continuous improvement of HSEQ systems, ensuring the business remains compliant while creating a proactive, safety-first culture.

You’ll work across manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse and office environments, providing expert advice and partnering with operational leaders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Health, Safety and Environmental strategy, policies, procedures and improvement plans.

Maintain and develop ISO 45001, supporting ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems.

Manage environmental permits, waste, trade effluent and regulatory compliance.

Lead risk assessments, DSEAR reviews, HAZOPs, incident investigations and corrective actions.

Lead H&S and DSEAR committees and continuously improve emergency response arrangements.

Support internal, external, customer and regulatory audits.

Lead non-conformance, CAPA, root cause analysis and customer validation/change control.

Deliver HSEQ training and provide practical guidance across the business.

Monitor KPIs, identify trends and lead improvement projects that reduce risk and improve performance.

Manage the HSEQ budget and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency.

About You

You’ll be an experienced HSEQ professional with a strong track record of improving safety performance, compliance and workplace culture, ideally within chemical manufacturing or a similarly high-hazard environment.

You’ll ideally have experience with:

DSEAR / ATEX, COSHH and risk management.

Environmental permitting and regulatory compliance.

ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001.

CAPA, root cause analysis and auditing.

Delivering HSEQ training and influencing stakeholders at all levels.

Managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.

Qualifications

Essential:

NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.

ISO Lead/Internal Auditor experience.

Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.

IEMA or environmental qualification.

DSEAR, COMAH, COSHH or Fire Safety qualifications.

Degree in H&S, Environmental Science, Engineering or Quality Management.

Lean/Six Sigma experience.

Why Join?

This is an excellent opportunity to take a high-impact HSEQ leadership role, with genuine scope to influence culture, strengthen compliance and deliver measurable improvements across a complex manufacturing environment.

If you're a practical, commercially minded HSEQ professional who enjoys getting close to the operation and making things better, we'd love to hear from you.
