The Big Phone Store has been established since 1999 and is one of the UK's leading refurbished mobile phone and technology businesses.
As our B2B division continues to grow, we're looking for a B2B Sales & Business Development Executive to find, win and develop relationships with medium and large organisations across the UK.
This is not an account administration role.
You'll be actively finding opportunities, speaking to new businesses, opening doors, winning customers and then developing those relationships over the long term.
The accounts you win will be yours to develop and grow.
What will you be selling?
We're able to support businesses throughout the lifecycle of their mobile devices.
You'll introduce potential customers to products and services including:
• Refurbished mobile phones and devices for businesses
• Bulk and corporate device supply
• Mobile phone and device repair services
• Refurbishment and lifecycle support
• Corporate mobile phone buyback and trade-in
• Purchasing businesses' old, unwanted or surplus devices
• Secure device recycling and responsible disposal
• Secure data erasure and related services
• Ongoing device and account support
You won't simply be selling one product.
The objective is to understand how an organisation currently manages its devices, identify where we can provide value and build a commercial relationship that can develop over time.
What you'll be doing
A significant part of your role will be new business development and outbound prospecting.
You'll be:
• Identifying businesses and organisations that could benefit from our products and services
• Researching companies and finding the appropriate decision-makers
• Prospecting predominantly through LinkedIn, telephone and other business sources
• Making outbound calls and introducing The Big Phone Store
• Following up inbound leads and enquiries
• Re-engaging dormant and previous B2B customers
• Speaking with IT, procurement, operations, finance, sustainability and other relevant decision-makers
• Understanding how prospective customers currently buy, manage, repair and dispose of their mobile devices
• Identifying commercial opportunities rather than simply trying to make a quick sale
• Explaining the commercial benefits of refurbished technology
• Preparing and following up quotations and proposals
• Handling objections and progressing opportunities
• Keeping CRM records, opportunities and follow-ups accurate and up to date
• Building a sales pipeline and consistently working it
• Winning new customers
• Developing the accounts you win and identifying further opportunities within them
• Building long-term relationships rather than simply completing one transaction
• Working towards individual sales, activity and commercial targets
As you develop within the role, there will also be opportunities to attend trade shows, exhibitions, networking events and customer meetings.
The telephone will be your primary sales tool
This point is important.
If you're uncomfortable picking up the telephone and initiating conversations with businesses you've never spoken to before, this isn't the right role for you.
Email, LinkedIn and other channels are useful tools, but they aren't substitutes for having conversations.
We don't want someone spending the day sending emails because they're reluctant to make a call.
You'll need to be comfortable finding the right person, picking up the phone, starting a conversation and explaining why speaking to The Big Phone Store could be worthwhile.
Some people won't answer.
Some won't be interested.
Some will tell you no.
That's part of business development.
You need the resilience to deal with rejection, learn from conversations, refine your approach and make the next call.
Own and grow the customers you win
When you successfully bring a new customer into the business, you won't simply hand them over and start again.
You'll own that customer relationship.
You'll continue developing the account, understanding its requirements, maintaining regular contact and identifying further opportunities to help the organisation.
That could mean supplying more devices, arranging repairs, purchasing redundant equipment or introducing other services as the relationship develops.
The objective isn't simply to make sales.
It's to build a valuable portfolio of long-term B2B relationships.
Training, development and commission
We don't expect you to arrive knowing every product, service or sales process.
During your first few months, you'll learn our business, our services, our customers, our systems and how we approach B2B sales.
You'll receive direction, support and feedback, but we'll also expect you to learn quickly, take responsibility and increasingly work independently.
Once you've developed the necessary knowledge and demonstrated that you're ready, you'll move onto our uncapped commission structure.
The better you perform and the stronger the customer portfolio you build, the greater your earning potential.
This is an opportunity to join an established business while being part of a growing B2B division.
Rather than inheriting an account list and simply administering it, you'll have the opportunity to build something of your own within the business.
You'll learn how to prospect, sell, negotiate, manage accounts and develop commercial relationships while building a customer portfolio that you can continue growing.
For somebody with the right personality, motivation and perseverance, there is considerable scope to develop both your career and your earnings.
