Summary
The Trauma and Orthopaedic Department at UHD are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the team as a Clinical fellow in trauma.
This is an exciting time to join as we are currently making great progress with a vision in creating a first class fully integrated Trauma and Orthopaedic Service within our Bournemouth and Poole Hospital sites as part of the new University Hospitals Dorset.
Work alongside our existing specialty doctors and registrars to provide care to inpatients including new admissions
Supervision and support of junior medical colleagues, Physicians Associates and Advanced Nurse Practitioners/Advanced Clinical Practitioners
Maintaining continued professional development
Attending ward multidisciplinary meetings
Attending and contributing to educational sessions and Clinical Governance meetings
Partaking in departmental Quality Improvement work
Participating in the hospital appraisal process as part of on-going professional development
Weekend working will be expected in this role
UHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service-specific questions at interview.
This service has a planned move fromPoolesite to Bournemouth site onEarly next year.
If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.

There is a planned move for this service anticipated during Winter 2026 when this role and base of work will relocate to Poole Hospital. Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder’s home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.
