SEN Teaching Assistant - Near Guildford, Surrey

We are currently looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school situated near Guildford, Surrey. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and wants to work in a calm, nurturing and structured educational environment.

Location: Near Guildford, Surrey

Hours:

- Monday: 8:30am - 4:00pm

- Tuesday - Thursday: 8:30am - 4:15pm

- Friday: 8:30am - 3:45pm

Pay: £14.00 - £15.50 per hour

Contract: Long-term / Temp-to-Perm

Please note: Own transport is essential due to the school's rural location.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in helping students feel secure, supported and able to engage with their education. You will work closely with teaching staff and the wider team to provide consistent support throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing dedicated support to students with complex mental health needs and additional learning requirements.

- Building positive relationships with pupils and offering reassurance, encouragement and consistency.

- Supporting students to recognise and regulate their emotions, while helping them engage constructively with their learning.

- Working alongside teachers and other members of staff to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive school environment.

- Supporting pupils across a range of key stages and helping them develop confidence, independence and essential life skills.

- Adapting your approach to meet individual needs and supporting each learner to make meaningful progress.

The school takes a therapeutic and highly individualised approach to education, with small class groups and personalised learning strategies designed around the needs of each student.

We are looking for someone who is:

- Patient, understanding and genuinely passionate about working with young people with SEN.

- Compassionate and able to build trusting relationships with students.

- Experienced in an SEN environment would be advantageous, although previous SEN experience is not essential.

- A confident communicator who can work positively with teachers and other professionals.

- Flexible, proactive and able to adapt to the changing needs of individual pupils.

- Committed to creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
