The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the B26 area of Birmingham from September 2026.
This exciting full-time role will be based within the school's newly established SEND Hub, supporting eight pupils transitioning from Reception into Year 1. The provision has been designed to provide a nurturing, structured environment where pupils receive highly personalised support before progressing into mainstream education when they are ready.
You will support pupils following both a sensory curriculum, focusing on communication, emotional regulation, and independence, as well as a semi-formal curriculum, helping pupils develop the skills and confidence needed to successfully transition into Year 1.

Your Key Responsibilities:
* Support pupils within the school's dedicated SEND Hub through tailored 1:1 and small-group interventions
* Work with children following sensory and semi-formal learning pathways
* Develop pupils' communication, emotional regulation, and independence skills
* Support pupils with successful transitions into Year 1 mainstream classrooms when appropriate
* Deliver activities linked to EHCP outcomes and personalised learning plans
* Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, therapists, and wider school staff
* Promote positive behaviour and create a calm, structured learning environment
* Monitor pupil progress and contribute to ongoing assessment and support planning
Requirements:
* Previous experience supporting children with SEN within a primary or specialist setting
* Experience working with pupils with Autism (ASD), communication needs, and developmental delays
* Understanding of sensory-based learning approaches and emotional regulation strategies is desirable
* Experience delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions
* Patient, nurturing, and resilient approach to supporting young children
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
