Summary

Our Cardiology services are some of the most advanced in the country, cover a range of services including our acute cardiology ward, angiography suite and our coronary care unit, which is the PPCI Centre for Norfolk.  In addition to this we are the Norfolk Heart Attack Centre.

Join our friendly Cardiology Outpatients team at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital as a Receptionist and become the welcoming face of patient care. In this fast-paced, people-focused role, you’ll support patients from arrival to appointment, coordinate clinics, manage bookings, and ensure accurate real-time data on our Patient Administration System. Every day is different—you’ll balance a variety of tasks while working closely with clinical and administrative colleagues to keep services running smoothly.

You’ll make a real difference by providing a warm, professional first impression, supporting patient safety in waiting areas, and handling enquiries with empathy and confidentiality. Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork are key, as well as the ability to prioritise and stay calm under pressure.

At NNUH, we live our PRIDE values—People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence. If you’re passionate about delivering outstanding patient experience, thrive in a busy environment, and want to be part of a supportive, compassionate team, we’d love to hear from you.

As a Receptionist in Cardiology Outpatients, you will provide a high-quality front-line service, welcoming patients, managing clinic reception, booking and rearranging appointments, and ensuring accurate, real-time data entry on the Patient Administration System.

You will coordinate clinics, prepare notes and appointment lists, liaise with clinical teams, and respond to patient and staff enquiries professionally and confidentially. You will also help maintain patient safety and comfort in waiting areas and support the smooth running of busy outpatient services.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication and customer care skills, strong organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment. You should be confident using IT systems, work well within a team, and demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and respect at all times.

Typical decisions include: prioritising urgent clinic or investigation requests against routine bookings; deciding when to escalate patient concerns or waiting room issues to clinical staff; and assessing when appointments need to be rebooked or overbooked based on clinical priority and availability.

Join us at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and be part of a workforce of over 10,000 staff!
