We are seeking a Mechanical Day Technician to support the site facilities and engineering team in maintaining a leading workplace environment across a major commercial campus.

​The successful candidate will play an integral role in delivering high-quality engineering services across multiple disciplines while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, policies, and governance requirements.

Job Description

We are looking for a proactive and skilled mechanical maintenance professional who can help ensure the reliability, resilience, and availability of critical engineering assets through planned and reactive maintenance activities.

This role is primarily based in Northampton, with travel to Cambridge required at least one day per week.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in accordance with scheduled programmes and engineering standards.

Respond promptly and effectively to reactive maintenance tasks and helpdesk requests.

Undertake fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs on mechanical plant and building services systems.

Maintain engineering assets to ensure operational reliability and statutory compliance.

Coordinate and manage initial engineering responses to client requests and site issues.

Supervise and monitor specialist subcontractors carrying out maintenance and repair works.

Complete maintenance records, reports, and documentation accurately.

Follow all health and safety procedures, including risk assessments and method statements.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

Minimum Level 2 NVQ in Plumbing or another mechanical discipline.

Experience providing mechanical building services maintenance, including fault finding, maintenance, installation, and inspection/testing.

Previous experience delivering both reactive and planned preventative maintenance within building services environments.

Experience working within Facilities Management (FM) or commercial building services.

Good understanding of statutory compliance requirements relating to building services maintenance.

Experience working in accordance with strict health and safety procedures, including risk assessments and method statements.

Ability to manage and coordinate subcontractors effectively.

Full UK driving licence is essential (company van provided).
