Summary
As part of Public Health, the Active travel team continue to support our community to provide an environment that encourages activity, including walking and cycling and be more active in their journeys.
To continue the growth of this service, the team are looking to recruit a Project Support Officer, to support the team leader with the delivery of Bikeability and Road Safety initiatives throughout Calderdale. The role will provide project support for the delivery of Bikeability in Calderdale, ensuring training is delivered in accordance with Department for Transport (DfT) standards, alongside direct delivery of bikeability training.
We welcome applications from people with the following skills and experience:
• Delivery of training to both adult and child groups and work involving the general public.
• Planning and organisational skills.
• Able to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities.
• Ability to mentor new staff or trainees and support their development against agreed standards and procedures.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• A commitment to high standards of customer care.
• IT literate and numerate.
• Ability to undertake site assessments and risk assessments, keeping clear written records.
This post requires the National Standard Bikeability Qualification. Training for this will be provided, candidates are expected to be willing to work towards this and achieve within an agreed timeframe.
Knowledge of road safety education, active travel schemes, cycle training and cycle maintenance is not essential but would be an advantage.
