Summary

Administrative Officer - Criminal Fines Collection & Enforcement

Location: London E14 4PU

Working Pattern: Full‑time, office‑based

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am to 5pm

Pay Rate: £15.59 per hour

About the Role

The Criminal Fines Collection and Enforcement team works closely with Criminal Courts across England and Wales to ensure individuals comply with fines and financial penalties. As an Administrative Officer, you will support the delivery of justice by helping progress cases, manage financial impositions, and provide essential administrative and customer service support.

This is a busy, varied role where you'll work within a supportive team, handle sensitive information, and interact with members of the public, defendants, and external organisations.

Key Responsibilities

  • General Administration - preparing court papers, photocopying, filing, updating records, managing post, organising meeting rooms and training materials.

  • Financial Processing - collecting fines, enforcing financial penalties, handling cash, and processing casework.

  • Drafting & Documentation - producing standard letters, reports, minutes, notes, and submissions.

  • Operational Support - conducting means interviews, assisting at hearings, scheduling, serving documents, executing warrants, and handling enquiries.

  • Casework & Verification - checking documents, validating records, ensuring compliance standards, and cross‑checking colleagues' work.

  • Information Management - assembling data for reports, statements, warrants, statistical analysis, and daily team meetings.

  • Communication - liaising with managers, judiciary, magistrates, stakeholders, suppliers, and customers to provide accurate information and excellent service.

Essential Skills & Criteria

  • Strong customer service skills (telephone & email)

  • Experience in an administrative, customer‑focused environment

  • Proficient in IT and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Ability to follow processes and work accurately
