Summary

The Mental Health Rapid Response Worker will work as part of a flexible team providing enhanced care and therapeutic engagement to patients experiencing mental health crisis within AED departments across the CWP footprint. The role will involve providing safe, compassionate and person-centred care, completing patient observations and supporting the safe transportation of patients between healthcare settings, from their place of residence and carrying out Section 135 / CTO Recalls. The post holder will also support patients who are detained under the Mental Health Act, including those held under Section 136, providing appropriate care, observation, reassurance ad support while maintaining their safety, dignity and wellbeing. The role requires effective partnership with clinical teams, emergency services and other agencies to ensure patients receive safe and compassionate care throughout their time within Urgent Care.

Please note that, should you be shortlisted for an interview, this will take place in the form of a face to face, values-based clinical assessment centre on Friday 25th September.

The Trust currently supports the Real Living Wage (RLW) hourly rate as set by the Living Wage Federation and will apply a pay supplement if the National Agenda for Change hourly rate falls below this.

The post holder will work collaboratively with clinical teams, emergency services and partner agencies to provide safe, effective and compassionate care to patients experiencing a mental health crisis. Responsibilities will include, completing patient observations, providing person-centred care and therapeutic engagement, supporting patients who may be distressed or in crisis , and transporting patients safely to various healthcare settings. The post holder will also contribute to maintain a safe environment and responding appropriately to service needs.

The Mental Health Rapid Response Worker will provide compassionate, person-centred care and therapeutic engagement to patients experiencing mental health difficulties or crisis, promoting their safety, dignity and wellbeing at all times. The post holder will complete patient observations in line with care requirements, provide reassurance and support to patients who may be distressed or vulnerable, and respond appropriately to changing levels of risk. The role will include the safe and respectful transportation of patients between healthcare settings, including those subject to the provisions of the Mental Health Act, working alongside clinical teams, emergency services and partner agencies where required. The post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues across Urgent Care and other healthcare services, communicating effectively to support continuity of care and patient safety. They will respond calmly and professionally to incidents and challenging situations, follow relevant policies, procedures and risk management plans, and escalate concerns appropriately. The role also required flexibility to undertake a range of ad hoc duties in response to the changing needs of the service, while maintaining confidentiality and handling patient information in accordance with NHS policies, legislation and professional standards.
