Higher Level Teaching Assistant - SEMH & SEND
Greater Manchester - Bolton, Bury, Manchester City, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford & Wigan
£15 to £17 per hour | £112.50 to £127.50 per day

Why this role?
You've put in the hours to become an HLTA. Now put that experience to work somewhere it's genuinely valued. This isn't cover-supervisor busywork. You'll be leading sessions, running interventions and acting as a key point of contact for pupils with complex SEMH or SEND needs, working alongside teachers and therapists who treat you as part of the team and not an extra pair of hands.
A typical week could include
- Leading learning sessions and delivering specialist interventions independently
- Supporting pupils with EHCPs through complex, individual presentations
- Mentoring newer teaching assistants and support staff
- Contributing to EHCP reviews and progress monitoring
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams who actually listen
What you'll need
- Formal HLTA qualification or status
- At least two years' experience in a specialist SEMH or SEND setting
- Enhanced DBS with children's barred list
- DBS Update Service registration
- Level 2 Safeguarding certificate
- Two professional references
- Right to work in the UK
Even better if you have
- SEMH, AP, or PRU experience
- Team Teach or positive behaviour support training
- EHCP implementation experience
- Confidence leading sessions independently
- Autism and communication needs expertise
