Summary
Job Overview
-Lead QHSE strategy across the Power and Grid, Major Projects business and drive continual improvement.
-Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
-Provide QHSE advice and guidance to Major Projects senior leadership.
-Build and embed a proactive QHSE culture.
-Influence stakeholders at all levels to achieve QHSE objectives and KPIs.
-Lead QHSE initiatives and campaigns within Major projects
-
Main Duties
-Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality legislation.
-Maintain and improve QHSE systems, processes, and documentation.
-Support continued integration of Mitie procedures and processes supporting ISO certifications (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and support external audits.
-Monitor performance, produce reports, and present to the Major Projects MD.
-Lead incident investigations and liaise with enforcement authorities.
-Deliver QHSE training (including subcontractors).
-Ensure safe systems of work are implemented across major projects.
-Develop minimum QHSE requirements for Major Projects supply chain.
-Support management and development of QHSE team performance.
-Provide mentoring and support to managers and process owners.
-Drive QHSE improvement initiatives and audit programmes.
-Align management systems across business functions.
-Engage with external stakeholders (clients, auditors, suppliers).
-Support pre-qualification, tendering, and supplier evaluation.

What we are looking for
-
-Degree in Safety & Environmental Management (or similar) and/or CMIOSH.
-NEBOSH Diploma(s) (Health & Safety and Environmental) or equivalent.
-Lead auditor qualification (ISO standards).
-Experience of improvement plans, driving improvements etc with leading and lagging data
-Experience taking a strategic approach to delivery of QHSE on major projects
-Experience managing teams and mentoring senior staff.
-Experience delivering KPIs and QHSE systems.
-Strong knowledge of QHSE systems, audits, and legislation.
-Experience in environmental and quality management.
-Ability to influence and motivate teams in high-risk environments.
-Strong organisational, analytical, and IT skills.
-Experience with safe systems of work in construction/maintenance, including temporary works.
-Strong understanding and experience of CDM
-Experience of large-scale construction and high-risk industries, utility experience preferred
-Full UK driving Licence.
