Job OverviewThe Management Accountant will report to the Senior Finance Business Partner and is responsible for preparing accurate, timely and insightful financial information to support effective decision-making across the business. The role plays a key part in month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and business partnering with operational and commercial teams.

Main Duties:

-Management Accounting & Month-End Reporting - Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting, while completing month-end activities such as journals, accruals, prepayments and revenue recognition.

-Financial Analysis & Forecasting - Analyse financial performance against budgets, forecasts and prior year results, providing clear commentary on variances, risks, opportunities and business trends.

-Business Partnering & Commercial Support - Work closely with operational and commercial teams to provide financial insight, challenge assumptions and support effective decision-making and budget management.

-Project Performance & Cost Control - Monitor project, contract and departmental performance, identifying margin improvements, cost-saving opportunities, process efficiencies and profitability enhancements.

-Financial Governance & Continuous Improvement - Maintain strong financial controls, ensure compliance with accounting standards, support audits, improve reporting processes and assist with the successful transition of ESM into Major Projects.

What we are looking for:

-Qualified Accountant - Newly qualified or qualified (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) with experience in management accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.

-Financial Control & Compliance - Strong understanding of month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, accounting principles, financial controls, CIS, VAT and tax compliance requirements.

-Analysis & Reporting Skills - Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities, with experience analysing large datasets and turning financial information into meaningful business insights.

-Stakeholder & Commercial Awareness - Confident communicator able to influence and support non-finance stakeholders, with a proactive approach to identifying risks, opportunities and improvements.

-Industry & Systems Experience - Experience in working capital and cash flow forecasting, with project accounting or construction industry experience advantageous and SAP knowledge desirable.
