Working hours: Minimum 35 hours per week (5 days per week for the first month. As a recognised employer of choice, we were ranked 23rd in the Financial Times UK Best Employers 2026 for employee recommendations.We are now seeking a Safeguarding Assistant to join our dedicated Safeguarding Department and help support the delivery of safeguarding services across The Salvation Army's churches, community services and social centres throughout the UK and Ireland.Job Summary:Based at our modern Territorial Headquarters in Champion Park, London, directly opposite Denmark Hill Station, you will play a vital role in supporting the Safeguarding Team by providing administrative, coordination and safeguarding support functions. Working within a small, busy team, you will contribute to safeguarding practices that help protect and support vulnerable people across a wide range of services.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Safeguarding Assistant, you will:Promote and support best safeguarding practices and compliance Assist with case triage and risk management processesRespond to non-safeguarding concerns and ensure appropriate signposting.Coordinate training events and arrange travel and accommodation as required.Support the delivery of key safeguarding projects and departmental initiatives.Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting activities.The Successful candidate will have:Knowledge and understanding of child and adult safeguarding legislation and practice.A suitable level of education.Excellent record-keeping, administration and report-writing skills.Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.The ability to work collaboratively as part of a busy and supportive team.Proven good experience of using Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint),Outlook, Teams and databases A commitment to the values and mission of The Salvation Army.Why Join Us?This is an opportunity to build your safeguarding career within a respected, values-driven organisation that is committed to supporting vulnerable people and strengthening communities.
