Summary

Painter & DecoratorHullWorking Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per yearSalary: £25,023 per annumAnnual Leave: 31 days per annum (excluding bank holidays and up to 3 additional discretionary days over the Christmas/New Year period)As our Painter & Decorator, you will work with the Estates Services team to enhance and maintain the aesthetic appearance of buildings, facilities, and common areas on campus. We have worked hard to create an environment where all of our staff, no matter what their role, are empowered to inspire & support our vision to create better futures for the people of Hull.Responsibilities of our Painter & Decorator:Carry out various painting and decorating tasks including preparing surfaces, mixing paint, applying finishes, and completing final coatings according to detailed specifications.Evaluate and analyse the condition of walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and other surfaces to determine appropriate treatment required for painting and/or decorating.Fill holes and cracks with appropriate materials, sand surfaces, and clean before application of paint or wallpaper.Apply paint and finishes to the interiors and exteriors of buildings, including classrooms, corridors, offices, common areas, and other college premises.Select and utilise appropriate tools and equipment for painting such as brushes, rollers, spray guns, ladders, etc., while adhering to safety guidelines at all times.Coordinate and assist with the removal of old paints, wallpaper, and other debris as part of surface preparation.Inspect completed work to ensure it meets required quality standards and specifications, making any necessary touch-ups or corrections.Develop and maintain an inventory of painting and decorating supplies, ensuring that stocks are replenished as needed.Collaborate with staff, students, leadership, external stakeholder and other members of the maintenance team to schedule painting and decorating tasks, ensuring minimal disruption to college operations.Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and best practices related to painting and decorating, and recommend improvements to existing processes if required.Adhere to safe working practices, including properly handling and disposing of hazardous materials and chemicals, while maintaining a clean and organized work environment in accordance with College policy and procedure and current legislation.What we’re looking for in our Painter & Decorator:Minimum Level 2 Maths & EnglishDemonstrable experience in painting and decoratingGood knowledge of materials, tools and techniques to complete wooden installations.Good communication skillsExcellent project management and work organisation skills.Ability to read technical drawings and work to detailed specifications.Ability to work effectively as an individual or as part of a teamAbility to prioritise workload and organise work scheduleAbility to communicate and work professionally with internal and external customers of the CollegeHold a valid driving license (Desirable)Please apply via link
