Summary

BBS Recruitment is an independent recruitment agency for transport and logistics sector, supplying to a variety of clients across UK.

We are currently recruiting a Home Ownership Officer for our client based in Waltham Forest.

Responsibilities for Home Ownership Officer:

• Manage a portfolio of leasehold and home ownership accounts, ensuring service charges, major works charges, shared ownership rent and ground rent are accurately calculated, notified and billed in accordance with the terms of individual leases and relevant legislation.

• Administer and oversee the recovery of estimated and actual service charges, including charges relating to major works, ensuring accurate billing and full income recovery.

• Undertake Section 20 consultations under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 (as amended), ensuring all statutory consultation requirements, lease conditions and relevant legislation are fully complied with.

• Prepare and issue Section 20 notices and associated documentation, maintaining accurate records and ensuring consultation processes are completed within the required timescales.

• Provide specialist advice, information and guidance to leaseholders, shared owners and housing staff on service charges, major works, leasehold matters and relevant legislation.

• Respond effectively to enquiries, complaints and disputes relating to service charges, major works, lease interpretation and home ownership matters, resolving issues wherever possible and escalating complex cases appropriately.

• Work closely with contractors, housing teams and other internal departments to ensure major works and associated charges are accurately administered and communicated to homeowners.

• Assist Collection Officers with the recovery of outstanding homeowner rent, service charges, major works charges and other related income.

• Monitor outstanding accounts and take appropriate action to maximise income recovery while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to leasehold accounts, service charges, major works and Section 20 consultations.

• Interpret lease agreements and relevant legislation to ensure charges are correctly applied and homeowners receive accurate and timely information.

• Contribute to maintaining the financial viability of the Housing Service through effective management and recovery of homeowner income
