Summary

Voluntary Action Rotherham (VAR) is the lead body for supporting, developing and promoting the voluntary and community sector (VCS) in the Rotherham Borough. Our role is to facilitate effective action to bring about positive change in the lives of individuals and communities in the local area.

The primary purpose of this role will be to work with local people, voluntary and community groups and empower them to find solutions to local issues through effective community action in the delivery of the single infrastructure grant contract. As well as providing help and assistance to groups and individuals who want to set up or maintain community groups, this role will offer support on appropriate organisational structures and development needs as well as working in local neighbourhoods to help groups to implement action plans to support their aims and objectives.

Some evening and weekend work may be necessary to fulfill the duties of this post.

We are flexible in our approach to the working hours for this post and are happy to accept applications from individuals wishing to work anywhere between 3-5 days (22.5-37 hours) per week.

An intrinsic part of the role is to travel throughout the Borough on a regular basis, therefore it is essential that applicants have access to their own transport.
